VEC offers a spectrum of services designed to foster growth among environmental businesses and excellence in environmental educational programs. VEC members participate in all activities free or for discounted fees.

Advocacy

VEC advocates for sustainable economic growth in the environmental sector by connecting businesses with legislators and administrators – presenting informative panel discussions, hosting networking events, and exchanging information between policy-makers and the environmental business community.

Business development assistance

VEC works with its members and with state and regional agencies and instrumentalities to help companies find business development advice, technical assistance, and financial support.

VEC offers regular workshops and presentations on such topics as general business development, environmental industry conditions, expanding into international markets, and GSA schedule filing and opportunities.

Education

VEC promotes intellectual capacity development and resource sharing through its Web-accessible database of environment-related educational programs and member-business capabilities, by providing referrals through its contacts in industry and academia, and by helping academic members build environmental education capacity by coordinating inter-institutional planning and program development and by presenting conferences on education-related issues.

Environmental internships

VEC’s Web-accessible, member-searchable database maintains up-to-date information on business/agency members needing interns and educational programs seeking internship opportunities for their students.

Market development

VEC works with state and federal agencies to represent Vermont’s environmental businesses at national and international trade fairs and trade missions.

VEC’s Web-accessible, searchable business profile/capabilities database offers client companies or public entities a one-stop information resource devoted to Vermont environmental firms.

VEC helps member firms learn of bid opportunities by linking clients with environmental product and service providers, and by notifying members of bid opportunities through timely referrals.

Partnering/teaming

VEC offers regular expos and networking/matchmaking events designed to promote partnering of Vermont firms seeking alliances that will allow them to pursue particular bids or markets.

Special projects

VEC assists individual companies and organizations in a variety of ways, including serving as a non-profit fiscal agent for R&D or capital project funding, coordinating inter-disciplinary resource teams and community development initiatives for special projects, and applying the combined energy of Vermont’s environmental community to specific challenges.

Working with state and federal agencies and VEC members, VEC's initiatives help Vermont build a national and international reputation for its high-quality products and services, rigorous business and environmental ethics, cutting-edge innovations, and broad scope.
